Back in Las Vegas, with Ferré’s revolutionary spirit burning in my mind, I set myself the ultimate creative constraint: transform something already finished into something extraordinary. Armed with a $50 Goodwill budget, I wasn’t shopping for materials—I was hunting for potential.
Then I found it. A simple white men’s dress shirt, hanging innocuously among hundreds of others. But where others saw ordinary, I saw opportunity. Where they saw finished, I saw beginning.
The investment: $6.99 for the shirt, $8.99 for black lace, $8.34 for decorative buttons, $8.99 for the linen, plus boning and accessories.
The vision: A deconstructed corset dress that would honor both its masculine origins and celebrate its feminine transformation.

As I stepped onto that green carpet wearing number 35, I felt the weight of every creative decision. The deconstructed corset dress moved with me, its white and black elements creating a visual story of transformation. The audience saw it immediately—this wasn’t just fashion, this was philosophy made wearable.
The judges saw it too. A panel of fashion experts including Malavanh Rassavong, Sondra Falk, Larissa Navarro-Castro, TrinaMarie Shaw, Bryan Stewart, and Susan Huff recognized something special. The technical mastery. The creative courage. The Italian craftsmanship applied to sustainable innovation.
The public felt it. Social media exploded with the transformation story. The before-and-after documentation went viral. People weren’t just seeing clothes—they were witnessing the birth of possibility.
